ALOHA FROM HAWAII is the specially remastered, 60-minute edition of the record-setting, 1973 Elvis event that was the first worldwide live satellite concert featuring a single performer.

Inspired by President Richard Nixon’s landmark visit to China a few months earlier, Elvis headlined a concert that was broadcast via satellite from Honolulu, Hawaii. Initially seen live in over 40 countries across Asia and Europe on January 14, 1973, NBC in the US did not broadcast an edited version of the concert in the United States until April 4, 1973, because the concert took place the same day as Super Bowl VII. The decision paid off handsomely for the network, attracting 51 percent of the television viewing audience to become NBC’s highest rated program of the year, while the final worldwide audience figures were estimated at 1 billion viewers.

ALOHA FROM HAWAII was, many Elvis experts believe, “The King’s” final moment of true brilliance. In addition to classics like “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Hound Dog” and “Suspicious Minds,” Elvis performed “Burning Love,” a hit from just months earlier that became his final song to reach the Top 10 on the Hot 100. The performance is considered by many a signature Elvis moment when he reminded the world of his absolute command of the stage and his incredible singing voice.

The special also features stunning Elvis renditions of “Something,” “My Way,” “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” “What Now My Love,” “Fever,” “Welcome To My World,” “Long Tall Sally/Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” and many more.

ALOHA FROM HAWAII is an incredible, musical look back at the man who was known the world over as “The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
